Hot and cold cylinders, also referred to as aging cylinders, are essential equipment in various industrial processes. Here's a guide to their installation, operation, and maintenance:
### Installation
1. **Positioning**: Adjust the cylinder's feet to ensure they are perpendicular to the horizontal axis and reducer before installing the pipes.
2. **Agitator Operation**: During operation, the agitator must rotate clockwise. Reverse rotation should be avoided.
### Operation and Maintenance
1. **Preparation**:
- Clean the cylinder with fresh hot water and sterilize it with steam before use.
- Introduce the slurry through a material pipe fixed to the cylinder head or by opening the cylinder head and pouring it in. Avoid overfilling to prevent material splashing.
2. **Heating**:
- Close the refrigerant inlet valve and drain any remaining refrigerant from the jacket.
- Add the material, start the agitator, and open the steam valve.
- Once the desired temperature is reached, close the steam valve, wait 2–3 minutes, and then stop the agitator.
3. **Cooling**:
- Close the steam valve and drain any steam condensate from the jacket.
- Open the refrigerant valve at the bottom of the cylinder to allow refrigerant flow, cooling the material inside.
4. **Insulation**:
- Start the agitator and high-speed valve to maintain the desired temperature, monitoring it with a thermometer.
5. **Cleaning**:
- After use, drain condensate from the jacket and rinse the cylinder with warm water to remove sticky material.
- Clean the interior with a 40–50°C alkaline solution, followed by a rinse with clean water.
- Disinfect with hot water or steam (90°C or higher) for 2–3 minutes before the next use.
6. **Maintenance**:
- Regularly monitor the equipment and reducer operation. Refill lubricant as needed and change the oil every six months (use 40# engine oil).
- Rinse the jackets with warm water when not in use to prevent saltwater corrosion.
- Scrub the cylinder body regularly to maintain cleanliness and durability.
By following these steps, the hot and cold cylinders can be effectively operated and maintained for long-term use.
